McDONALD’S / OLYMPIC FLAME
An Olympic campaign people could take part in. A mobile pedometer and a campaign website turned everyday walking into a shared story: keep the flame burning, follow the progress and climb the leaderboard.

THE IDEA IN ACTION
Give people an active role in McDonald’s Olympic campaign. Connect the sporting theme with something they could do in everyday life: walk.
The mobile pedometer supported a virtual flame. The website brought participants together, displayed step totals and ranked walkers. Individual activity became part of the campaign.
Keiss Media developed the mobile application through an agency partner. The campaign connected the flame, participants, competition and rankings.
THE CAMPAIGN WEBSITE
The app gives you a personal action. The website turns it into a shared challenge. Contribute demo steps here or in the phone preview below: the community total, flame and leaderboard respond together.
EVERY WALK COUNTSdemo steps
| Rank | Participant | Demo steps |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | Walker 01 | 2,500 |
| 02 | Walker 02 | 2,000 |
| 03 | Walker 03 | 1,500 |
| 04 | You / preview | 0 |
All counters and leaderboard entries here are demonstration data. The controls simulate steps and update both previews. This preview does not run a real contest.
THE MOBILE EXPERIENCE
Start the preview, then add a few demo steps. The counter grows and the flame’s energy rises. One simple action makes the campaign’s idea tangible.
Buttons simulate steps; the demo does not use motion, location or personal data. This is an interactive preview, not a live McDonald’s service.
An interactive preview.
No sensor access. No data collection.
The refreshed flame and phone visuals are a contemporary presentation of the original participation idea, not additional features delivered in the historical project. The interactive website and mobile previews are reconstructions, not the original live services.
The website presentation draws on recovered campaign layouts and the project owner’s recollections: a flame fuelled by participants’ combined steps, a competition and participant rankings. The collective goal follows those recollections; its historical value has not been recovered. The 10,000-step goal and all rankings in the preview are illustrative.
The campaign’s archived mobile interface, presented in English, is shown below.
